Sep 27–Oct 3: The Weekly Holler
— Special Edition —

as told by Vernon Tucker
Something new: there are some people around here who will remember these stories, almost exactly as they are told. First up, Vernon Tucker on the Dump.

It was a time in Eureka when Magic was everywhere. Every day was an adventure.
It was a time before the ‘Tourist Machine’ had geared up to produce its magnetic attractions. The Rag Lady, the Mushroom Lady, Tex Belt, The Cat Woman, owner of the Love Inn Cattery, Millie and other notable characters roamed the street as if it were a stage in some existential play. The pace was slow, unbothered, and innocent.
…and then there was the Dump. A shack full of mink coats for a quarter, a family living in the biggest Ford station wagon ever built, and a monkey in a rhinestone collar and a little fez.
